I am planning on give a computer to my friend I work with, the computer will run Ubuntu and I need some help on how to proceed with this project.
1 what is the best version of Ubuntu to use with for this
2. I plan on installing music editing software like Ardour and maybe rose garden
3 Sound card works fine but I do have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card model Tb600-2541-2 I can install if this is better card to use?
back history
He had a dell laptop which had serious Hard disk issues, and I could not save his install of pro-tools :(. He lost his Pro-tools CD and when he tried to buy another copy the music store sold him a upgrade for 180 bucks which with no program CD is useless to him. This well pissed me off they knew he lost his CD but they still sold him a upgrade. I fixed the laptop by restoring the drive, but that laptop is not his.
the computer motherboard is a older Asus model P5S800_VM the specs are here
