Hello everybody

I would like to know of any good games (aside from Wesnoth- I've had enough of it) my laptop can handle, preferably native. This is what I have:

2.13Ghz CPU single core
128mb Intel card
2gb RAM
Linux Mint 7 (based on 9.04 Ubuntu Jaunty)

The problem here is that I have an Intel card, which does not mix with Jaunty. I should be able to play games that require better graphics when Linux Mint 8 is released (based on 9.10 Karmic).

Thanks

Sacred 1. There was an article in a Dutch magazine named "Linux" about it playing native on Linux.

Neverwinter Nights.
Baldur's Gate

and my personal favourite...
Torment Planescape.

Very oldy but still good!!!

art in games is expensive++ (time and development cost)

You need to lax the expectation of the graphic subject, most games aren't made for linux ;)
Why not try them out, they may have great gameplay.

I doesn't matter for me anyway. It's great that they are making games for Linux that actually works my computer :)

Some of the best games in the world have terrible graphics, take a look at nethack and it's myriad clones/spinoffs.

I currently work at a "3D department" in a media company as a programmer. This department specializes in 3D art, similar to what you see in TV and in games. One of the artists there - a very talented one - is passionate about creating cars and other vehicles. His results beat most detailed 3D models you can find out there (with exception of course).

The problem is, it takes a lot of time to build one. I'm not sure how long it took to make his latest car, but he's working on an F16 for more than a month and is still far from finished. I assume he needs about the same time for a car.

Now lets assume he needs about two months for a single car. That means, if he is to work on this car for two months, he has to earn expenses for these two months. In Greece, from where i am, you need at least 1000 euros per month to have a decent life as a single (i think he's not, so he needs more but anyway). That is about 2000 euros.

In other words, his car costs at least 2000 euros to him to make.

A game contains much more than a car.

Half Life will run in Wine with those specs. It's a damn good game, and Wine handles the GoldSrc engine flawlessly.

Isn't F-16 a plane? and speaking of planes, I also like those flying shooting sims. I really feel like playing games such as Project IGI and Command and Conquer 2: Tiberian Sun (and RA2 for that matter).

I still have my TS disc, but the problem is the game slows down in wine if I move my cursor :(
