Just wanted to thank anyone involved in making wine work in Ubuntu. After getting really frustrated earlier today with OpenOffice, I found out pptview is really easy to install, grabbing the prerequisite wine packages and all.
After this, I needed to upgrade from ppt viewer 97 to 2007. I downloaded the installer straight from Microsoft, and lo and behold, it just worked!
There was one minor issue with the symbol font for equations. But compared to the nightmare I just had with OpenOffice's quirks, this was no problem at all!
Anyway, to whoever I need to thank -- THANK YOU!
