I just downloaded StepMania, and everytime I try to run it, my screen goes blank for maybe a second and then returns to normal. It does this everytime, and doesn't even produce a terminal output. SM worked when I had Windows, so I don't think my hardware is the issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit CPU? The normal StepMania binary doesn't run in a 64-bit Linux environment. I'm trying to compile a 64-bit version but have gotten stuck on getting the mpeg video support to work.

I actually have no idea...the computer I'm talking about is so old and I don't really care that much about it. I want to use that just to play StepMania so I could free up some space on my laptop.

But, maybe it is 64 bit. That's cool that your compiling it for one...is that the problem you're stuck on? 'Cause none of my songs have videos on it so maybe you could pass on it on? Eh? ;) Thanks for your help.

If the computer is that old, it's not likely to be 64-bit. Possible maybe, but not likely ;)

I deleted the last executable I compiled, but if you DO have a 64-bit machine maybe I'll compile it again. I'll be gone for at least a week starting tomorrow though.
