I got really tired of trying to find a decent dark theme so I took some of the themes in Karmic and used them to build my own. I have attached a screenshot and the theme package. You can also find it on gnome-look:

I hope somebody finds this useful. Do you like it?

Well done, justin :) I downloaded the package, added the Humanity icon set, and it looks good. What are you using for window dressing? I have a different window dressing, and can't remember how to change it. I like the overall look as shown in your screenshot. I've attached a screenshot to show how your theme currently looks on my machine.

Hmmm, if you select the theme in appearances it should change your metacity (window manager) theme also. Can you try going to customize -> window border?

I'm running Compiz (so I can use the Cairo dock), so I set the window manager to Metacity and window decorator to GTK. That worked, but now I get the black box around the dock whenever it comes out of autohide. A small sacrifice, I suppose, for a decent looking dark theme.
