EY! It wont' boot from my freshly baked Ubuntu cd. My old plextor drive is pretty reliable and always works, and my bios settings are o.k. I burned it the good old fashioned way using My Computer, copy and paste to cd. P3 600mhz, 768 mb ram, agreeable hard disk. The drive is not external, but the one i burnt the cd with was. I'm kind of new to Linux, I omly used SuSE before
thanks,
- Richie

What do you see when you browse the cd?

Hey! Have you tried using ImgBurn, that always worked really well for me burning ISOs in Windows. http://www.imgburn.com/ Best thing about it is it gives a printout of any errors which may help. Just a suggestion! :)

It doesn't sound like you burnt the iso properly - Are you saying that when you browse the cd you see only the 700 meg .iso file?

LOL! Well um yeah. You have to burn the iso to the disc, copy and paste won't do it I think! Either way ImgBurn is free. Probably the easiest way to test if your cd has the ubuntu iso burned ok is to remove it from the drive, then place it back in the drive, if it shows up a box with options under a custom header like these on this page it's ok...
