Hey all,

I was trying to run this game under WINE, but alas, the Tages drivers got me. I couldn't install them due to the lack of administrator privileges. (trying to install again under the crossover games demo, custom, all users)
Is there any patch or any sort of way to alternatively install these TAGES drivers? There isn't any cd needed to play, so it's probably not a problem with the DVD, but I still would like some help on this. Any suggestions?

bump

Would it be able to install the drivers in virtualbox, and if the game doesn't work that well on it, then could I move them over to wine?

I really need some help on this!

also, would this game work on Cedega? I'm thinking of getting a year-long subscription on my birthday. does cedega work well?

is there any other way to play this other than wine and dual-booting (which is rather impossible since I have no more disk space for a second bootcamp)?

Download a crack for the game simply put. On a side note this should have been posted in the WINE sub-forum.

I play lots of games in Cedega and so far have been very happy with the service. Right now playing Sins of a solar empire on it. I also have been playing Defence Grid and bioshock Steam version. The reason I got it was to play Left 4 Dead, becauswe I never got it to work good enough in Wine. Well I now use Cedega everyday to play my games without a glitch. There are some issues, for example sins of a solar empire recently forces you to update via impulse, well impulse requires net 3.0 which is not compatible in Cedega as of yet. I install sins of solar empire in a virtual box of xp then copy it over to my linux partition and the run it on Cedega. Work perfectly, you can even play online with it.

I checked the game database and no information is posted yet for this game. It means no one has tried it with Cedega and posted the results, so I cant guarantee it will work in Cedega.

On a quick note. On The Wine database its on there and I know Cedega is a fork of Wine.

I found it in the appdb and it got Garbage and doesn't run whatsoever.

huh. just for reference, how well do windows games run on virtual machines?

I have a macbook, but alas, 9.10 has forced me to overwrite my bootcamp partition, and so I want to figure out a way to play these games on here. Therefore, virtualization would be possible. I also have the new virtualbox 3.0308. would I be wasting my time by installing windows on this?

As of Virtualbox-3.0 there has been support for basic 3d acceleration using calls to opengl (very much in the way wine works) but it probably won't play any advanced 3d gaming at this stage without some major issues.

well... would I be able to install the game and the drivers on the vm, move them to wine/cedega, and play them from there? how would I do that?

btw I applied a patch and it still doesn't work, it still requires the drivers!

also, my virtualbox always aborts when I try to install windows!

does vmware player work good with this?

nevermind about the virtualbox, I was giving it too much ram.

is there any word on how cedega installs these tages drivers?

they never install in wine due to the fact that you need admin privilages, and they never install. therefore, no game.

I suppose I will have to install these drivers in virutalbox, then move them to wine. they should work then, seeing that the problem is that they can't install!

You could try that, but I truly doubt the game would work under wine anyhow.

By the way, do tages drivers even WORK on cedega? they're also used in the witcher, I hear, and that game doesn't work on cedega! I'd hate to have to subscribe, and then find out that it doesn't even work!

how do you copy an installation from one to the other? is there a way to pinpoint out the files, copy, and then run it off of cedega?

ah, screw it. I'll just make my windows XP install cd usb-installable and be on my way. my harddrive is 500gb, anyway... it's not like I'll be playing games on battery on-the-go or anything...

thank you so much for all of your help, though~!
