I'm running Hardy on an old iBook G4. Few problems for over a year. Today I was running late and powered on the laptop on the bus, stuck it back in my backpack, and opened it in class to the login screen. Once logged in, however, the clock applet failed to launch. In addition, the network applet showed no connection. If I try to launch Firefox or Evolution, they will attempt to start, with taskbar applet showing that it is trying to start, but then fail. Konqueror and pidgin will load. Other apps not dependent on network, like F-spot or Calculator, will load.
My troubleshooting experience in this area is very limited. I've restarted the laptop. I've run ifconfig in the terminal which returned only the local loopback. Can anyone assist?
