Well the problem is not actually shutting down. When i have my lap top (Acer Aspier 5100) plugged into the power source and i turn it on Ubuntu says there was an unclean shutdown. When checking drives it stalls at 2% everytime and then it list a few errors or something, iv never really paid much attention i just dont start it with the power cord plugged in. This is begining to become quite a nuscience though. If my battery is charging i would still like to just be able to turn it on without any problems. After ubuntu loads about a quarter of the way (meaning the status bar underneath it has moved a quarter of the way) i can plug it back in and it runs just fine. I have no problems with it and if i check it after it starts up there are no errors reported. Any ideas here?
