hello, i have a few questions about updating.

how frequent and how big are the updates?

i know that i will sound as a cheap bast..... but i'm not able to have flat or bigger bandwidth packages, cause i don't have money for it...so i just wanna know how much monthly will it go on keeping the system updated?

thanks..

Updates are cyclical... in the weeks after a new release (for example, after 9.10 Karmic is released later in the month), you will get lots of updates, then they taper off over time. If a big package like OpenOffice is updated, you might get 100mb or more of updates.

Remember, it is up to you how frequently you update... some people do it every day, or once a week, or once a month...

If you want the least amount of updates, use the LTS (long term support) release, currently 8.04 Hardy Heron. It is very stable and rarely updated, yet will be fully supported through April 2011.
