Hi.

Apple does provide drivers for installing Windows on their laptop. Why they don't do the same for Linux (which is unix and opensource, so should be easier to port OSX stuff to Linux than Windows, maybe) ?

Is there any "class action" or "petition" to group Apple users which do not like OSX and want to run Linux on their macs?

Thanks
Luigi.

I don't think it's necessary, but would certainly be useful.
And no, I don't think Apple would agree to such a thing, because they are obviously in some kind of agreement with Windows so that they can make money together through Dual boot.
This is why I try to avoid big companies and am usually on Linux.
But, you just gotta have that popular OS for all teh killer appz.

peace.

Actually the linux kernel developers have offered to help write drivers. What they need are the specifications.

Line_Break is probably correct in guessing that some contractual agreement prevents them from helping non-MS competitors. That's the way it tends to work with MS, though in one or two steps.

So push for open hardware from Apple.

It would be easier if there there where an open forum for the Apple Bug tracker. It's not possible to link to specific bugs at the Apple database, bugreporter.apple.com, and as such it is easy for them to blow off specific problems.
