I, for one, welcome our new Googlian overlords.

I don't know. It is probably a safe bet that there are a number of people watching the things you do on the internet. In an ideal world I would say screw all of them, but from what I know so far google may not be AS bad with our data. It really depends on how personal you think your google searches are. For me I don't really care a whole lot. I do however use noscript (blocks google-analytics) and adblockplus.

I would say that I might feel uncomfortable using their netbook Chrome OS though.

for me it's not about what google does with the information it collects but about the fact that it does, It's like if someone s teals something from you and that not really affects your finances, but would you like the fact itself?

I can see Sam's part of the argument. Again, who would you rather have all your web searches and sites you visited on their servers out of all the major technological companies out there?

read their privacy policy and if you disagree with it find alternative search engines.

i read it some years back but it was no different from what any website collects.

simply said the web isn't private, check out your isp privacy policy, if anything you should be more concerned about that.

I'm using proxy anyway, and I'm not allowing tracking me, cause I don't like it, and still using google. It's just interesting for me to know what people here think about being watched.

If you have a search you will find that there exist threads in this sub-forum that look into google on your above mentioned topics & others in some detail.

Your ISP can still track you whether or not you are using a proxy.

EDIT: also you better be using the official google instead of the browser's search google, because of the controversy of tracking by browser ids.
