I just installed ubuntu 9.04 to run inside Windows Vista.

When running ubuntu if I type shift+2 for the '@' symbol I get an apostrophe. I played around trying to find the '@' symbol somewhere else; but, it seems to have disappeared.
I checked the keyboard layout options and the Inspiron 1525 is not listed.

You can actually see the keyboard layout in System->Preferences->Keyboard, and thus check where each character is located. Can I ask witch keyboard layout is currently in use.

Thank you for replying. I went back to System - Preferences - Keyboard. I figured out how to add the layout for Canada English.

Is Canadian English layout not the same as USA English? Is the problem solved now?
