Is it possible to make Ubuntu the host OS on your Macbook Pro and use programs like Hercules VM (or some other program that acts like Parallels) to run mac software in Ubuntu? (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20090929144231AAy673E)

I use ubuntu as host OS, and I use VirtualBox to run Windows as guest OS. Unfortunately OSX is not supported by VirtualBox, and I think Apple license (if you mind) do not allow to run OSX on a virtual machine, as technically they want you to run OSX only on apple hardware and maybe VM are not allowed. That's another reason to get away from OSX.

True. Got a colleague running OSX on Windows through vmware. There are around "hackintosh" OSX, which are OSX hacks in order to run it on non-apple hardware. But I don't think they are legal to be used...

i'm not sure as the legality of the hackintosh, apple has yet to strike down on it. From what i've read, if you own OS X and it is running on an apple machine, it shouldn't be an issue.

Note: thats just my understanding of Apple TOS, and in no way am I saying that it is legal or illegal to run OS X in VMWare
