I am about to take the plunge installing Ubuntu on my g5 ppc mac.
I am current running OSX Panther and want to buy a reasonable size external drive to do a back up of my system. The plan being to dual boot the machine with Ubuntu, using the external drive to back up current OSX and files in case it goes wrong. I understand that firewire is the way forward as on ppc's it is bootable in OSX panther.
I notice on the latest external hard disks often specify the minimum system is OS X 4.8. Will these drives not work on my system?
Please can someone recommend a good drive that would work on my system (imac g5 ppc) and also me useable in ubuntu.
