I was looking at creating a kiosk type machine and thought the Easy Peasy interface would be a great way to do it. Especially if the interface is a touch screen. I was thinking of having sections of apps on the left just as before and replacing the tabs on the right with a static info screen or image.

Has anyone done this? How ease it it to customise the easy peasy interface?

With Kubuntu Netbook Edition, the Favorites panel can be customized as well as the widgets in the start bar at the top. You can create a kiosk type machine in a few minutes. Here's a screenshot:

I hadn't used KDE for a kiosk since 3.x but I'll give it a try. I'm looking to roll this out in a production setting so I could use the tabs on the left on Easy Peasy to select product line. I also wanted to remove ALL unnecessary options to keep the operators from screwing it up plus keep the install to a minimum. Is there a way I can get this sort of tabbed functional UI in KDE? I'm a real KDE 4.x noob.

Its all widgets so you can drag the widgets that appeal to you to the start bar at the top and delete those you don't need/like. That's pretty cool in KDE4. You can customize the interface the way you want.
