Alternatively, install the guest additions in XP and you'll be able to change the resolution by resizing the window.

Yeah, use guest additions because it also adds focus on mouse-over which is really nice for integrating on desktop.

The guest additions also let you use 'seamless mode', in which the Windows Desktop is hidden (so your Windows programs and Linux programs can be seen at the same time. A very nice feature.)
