Hi all,
I have a problem with the Bluetooth on my Dell Vostro 1700 laptop. I am currently running:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty
32 bit version with all updates to the day applied. I struggled and got working the Video card, sound card... even the conexant winmodem works.
However, the bluetooth will not start at all. The side button that starts the Wi-Fi (and BT in Windows) will only start the Wi-Fi (i.e. the BT led stays off...). It's like the BT hardware is not even initialized.
This seems to be a good supposition, as i have read in some forums that if you first boot in windows and then restart in ubuntu, the hardware is initialized and the BT module works.
This is a no go for me, as i was to sick and tired with vista. Thus, I deleted every byte of MS stuff from my HDD and can not boot in Windows :)
Does anybody have any suggestion on how to get started debugging this nasty issue?
If more details are needed on my part, please don't be shy :) ask!
Kind regards,
Cristian
PS: Here is what I get from hcitool:
cristian@cristian-laptop:~$ hcitool dev
Devices:
cristian@cristian-laptop:~$ hcitool scan
