I have a few DVDs that play OK on my DVD player but not on my PC.

They are not originals, but copies of DVDs that I would not be able to get here. They get as far as the "Don't copy" warning, and there stop.

I realize this is a "delicate" question, but my PC monitor is much better than our old TV, so would prefer to play the DVDs on it.

Thanks for any suggestions. I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and normally play DVDs with VLC player.

Thanks, but as I mentioned, I am already using VLC to view videos.
