View Full Version : Ubuntu Lynx Wallpaper Idea :]

Hi.
I decided to try and make a wallpaper for Ubuntu 10.04.
I made two, one with a logo and one without.
I'm not that great at graphics design, so any comments/suggestions would be nice.
I hope you like it. :]

Nice try my mate. I think it would look better if there was less detail in the Lynx face ;)

Remove the Ubuntu logo if you want it to follow the guidelines. The logo has been abused on enough wallpapers already.

Not abuse, as such, just not adhering to the "Background Guidelines". However, your wallpaper looks quite good in terms of colours, sharpness, and composition.

Canonical prefers not to have the Ubuntu logo everywhere because it becomes too overwhelming and weakens the brand.

Sorry, didn't mean abuse like that :p I just thought it was a fitting word.

The guidelines suggest avoiding use of the logo on wallpapers because

1. It can be used on other OSs as well

2. It's being used just about everywhere else in the system, so the wallpaper could at least remain logo-free.

Mmm, yeah, I like the logos too. But some don't. I don't want to use Apple-logoed wallpapers because I don't have a mac, that would just feel weird, but some of the greatest wallpapers are usually locked to one system because they carry a logo.

At least make a logo less version for those not using Ubuntu but still love your wallpaper :)

I like the darker background version.

The position of the lynx is perfect but why not do an outline of the lynx instead?

Right now I feel as if it is heading in the direction of animal lovers(enthusiast level) sort of wallpaper. An outline of the lynx would maybe make it suit everyone more but then again that could be just me.

Cool stuff (would love to see an outline version of it hehe ;) )

I'm ambivalent about the logo, but I really like the lynx in this version. Keep up the good work!
