ok so i use gmail and other applications that use java but something is wrong with it. I dont know how to tell how to fix it though. I am using 9.04 x64 with an hp dv4t. Im sorry for so little info but I dont know where to even start with this one.

use this command to install java and all its extras


sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts

didn't fix it. my main problem is that when i go to open my gmail in firefox 3.5 I just get a loading and it wont actually open the email. im pretty sure it is a java problem because it works in html though.

I've never seen Gmail use Java. Are you mixing up Java and Javascript (not the same thing)?

are you running any new firefox plugins?

Using firefox go to
Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> Enable JavaScript
