Hell,

I installed 9.04 amd 64bit and I have a working version with a 1200x1600 resolution. When I download the driver nvidia-glx-173 from add/remove and select the nvidia driver and reboot, I get a 1920x1080 screen but when I click on firefox, or anything that opens up a window other than NVIDIA X Server Settings my screen locks up and gets all kinds of garbage on the screen. I had this problem a couple of months ago and could not resolve it. I had to install Fedora 11 but I am back trying to get Ubuntu 9.04 working since I don't like Fedora. Any ideas? Should I try running the 32bit version of ubuntu? Is there another driver I could use? When I look at the installed drivers under Synaptic, I see a driver for nvidia-glx-180 installed. Should this be 173? Please help.
