Just bought a packard bell dot m with vista preinstalled which works fine. When I try to install ubuntu (9.04) both intel and amd 64 versions give me the same errors - MP-BIO bug 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
ata1: softreset failed (device not ready)
modprobe: FATAL: could not load /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/modules.dep: No such file or directory
powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI_PSS object

then falls to Busybox shell.

Tried booting with no apic no lapic does not help.

strange is that by looking at forums and other google results it does not
appear to be a widespread or common problem, or at least it is not reported.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
