Hi all,
I am new to this and any forum , so I will introduce myself a bit. Well, since a couple of years I made the switch from windows 98 to ubuntu. Clicking around email and web surfing was pretty easy; So I nerver got into the innerworkings of the system. Troubleshooting problems means a bit .

Recently I got two hauppauge pvr-250 cards. So I decided to built a mythbuntu system (as a learning project.....and to impress my house mates :guitar:). Everything works accept one hauppauge card refuses to give video. I pult the card that works out and tried the faulrty one in different pci slots with the command: mplayer /dev/video0 and cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg. Mplayer outputs stuff I don't understand:

............Both cards have a different revision number: the working one is PAL-B/G 32034 rev B148, the faulty one is PAL-B/G 32034 REV B348. Maybe some driver or firmware is not loaded correctly. Could someone please hint me in the good direction? Eternal fame would be your share:KS.

Thank you in advance

Howdy -

Do you have your MythTV configured as of yet? In the back-end of MythTV, does it show that you have a video card on /dev/video0 and /dev/video1? From the ivtv logs, it seems like it is recognizing one card but possibly not a second (unless this is the log from where you only had the one installed that isn't working).

It is also possible that it isn't showing any video/audio in mplayer because the tuner isn't currently set to a channel. This is where you can get it setup in MythTV and check it. Use the MythTV back-end to setup the PVR-150 as the MPEG-2 card. Then scan for channels and see if that works.

After the channels are saved, go into the MythTV frontend and hit the Watch TV and see if you get anything from it.

The mplayer log shows that it is picking up an MPEG-2 stream along with stereo mode audio from /dev/video0.

thanks for reply,

The log is indeed after I pulled out the good one.
Even After reconfiguring the backend with only the bad card inserted, the result is the same: no / unwatchable video.
