hey, I'm running ubuntu, but I have virtual xp going to run itunes.
so does any security software need to be installed on xp? or because it's running through ubuntu will any spyware or bots find it impossible to cause trouble?

does virtual xp need it's own firewall?

I'm running firestarter on ubuntu.

The fact the XP runs in a virtual machine doesn't mean it is not vulnerable. The Ubuntu host will not protect it from malware, let along Firestarter. Keep it updated and locked up just as a regular XP installation.

Better yet, just don't run it when you aren't using it. In a lot of cases, you may not even need to have networking enabled when you are using it.
