Everything is fine except my video card.

I'm like one day ahead of you in all this, but I found a driver for my NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX Go5200, in the Propritiary repository. Installed it with Synaptic and it worked pretty well. Could be a good starting place.

Here's two links you may find helpful.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia)
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsNvidia (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsNvidia)

Good luck, and if you figure out how to make my stupid sound card work, forward that over to me.
