Hey guys,

I recently purchased an IBM X60s, it's a great little laptop and I love it to bits but I want to put Ubuntu on it just to make it that much more enjoyable :P

The problem is it doesn't have an internal CD/DVD drive. So, I was thinking that I could buy an external one instead but I don't know if the drive would even be picked up from the boot menu.

So, my question is how do I get Ubuntu onto a laptop that doesn't have a CD/DVD drive?

Thanks :)

or if you have another machine with Ubuntu installed, you can use this program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Live_USB_creator

That's a good idea! I wasn't aware that you could install from USBs like that, I knew you could make a boot-pen type thing though...

One thing, how big would the USB memory stick need to be? I have a 4Gb one... :)

4gb is plenty. I think that even 1gb should be enough.
