Active Connections in Firestarter

Active Connections in Firestarter sometimes show to me up to 6 connections (firefox) to Internet and sometimes (while still connected to Internet) show nothing. Why is this?

Because connections have a life-span and are closed after a period of inactivity. Having Firefox opened does not mean you are connected to something all the time. Once you hit another address, a new connection will show up in the logs.
