I was running a proFTPd server for just for testing as I had never run an FTP before but something puzzles me. I have the server set up with an account for me and one of my friends. When I created the account for my friend proFTPd automatically created a user account for my Debian log in. This was the first thing sort of understand but not completely. The biggest question though was why when he or I log into the proFTPd server using Filezilla does it ask for a user name and password, which we have to give it or we can't log on, but then says we are logging in anonymously? If I don't enter the correct name and pass it tells me incorrect log in and won't let me in but when I do log in it is anonymous. How can I be anonymous if I just entered my user name and password?:confused:
