Hello,

I have been using a little bit Linux but now I would like to setup a server with LDAP, SAMBA, SQUID and possibly Amanda. At some point I will also setup an Intranet (WiKi type).

All of this has to talk to my Active Directory from my Windows Server 2003.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make it work.

Could you guys guide me to a book who will help me understand better what I want to do and also how to do it?

Thank you very much!
Yael

I have the Apress Ubuntu Server Administration books (by Sander van Vugt) which are actually intended more for an IT professional. I've seen reviews ranging from good to awful. Though the author goes into several of the apps you mention, I don't know if it's in-depth enough to actually serve as a How-To.

Thanks for the book reference.
I'm mainly looking for LDAP integration with Samba and Squid and just more knowledge about Linux.
For Amanda, I might go with Zmanda. It's not that expensive and they offer support.

Does anyone has other opinion to give about this book or another book?

I usually turn to either:
Ubuntu Server Guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/index.html
Ubuntu Community Documentation - Servers: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Servers
For general Ubuntu Server documentation. For LDAP integration with Samba, the documentation on the Samba website under the "Learn Samba" section is pretty robust.
