View Full Version : [ubuntu] How do Windows clients handle Linux passwords expiring?

My network consists of an Ubuntu server and several XP workstations (which I wish were Linux workstations, but alas, it cannot be so). I have several Samba shares set up for the workstations to use as network storage. Now, I know it's possible to set password expiration dates on the passwords for both Linux users and Samba users (each employee has one of each). What happens when they expire, though? I know that with Linux workstations the user would just be prompted for a new password, but somehow I don't believe Windows will handle things so well.

Will I be pleasantly surprised by the way XP handles this or will it just up and die when the passwords expire as I suspect?
