When I've tried Frozen Bubbles in Hoary, fullscreen option refused to work for me. There was a solution by installing some package instead another, but I don't remember which :(
Now, I have the same issue in Breezy (with another game, though). If you know that solution, please help me.

What Hardware do you got?

I guess the package you were told to install could have been drivers for your video card. All I know is that fullscreen in Frozen Bubble works fine for me, without installing anything extra.
I'm afraid your post doesn't contain much information that can help us solve the problem for you. Which game is it you have a problem with now? Does fullscreen in other games work? Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say? If not, do you get a message if you run it from a console?

I use NVIDIA GeForce2MX400 with native driver from Breezy CD (hardware 3d acceleration enabled). The game is Russian version of Rats&Spears for Linux. It just ignores "fullscreen" option with no messages in console.
When I faced this issue in Frozen Bubble (Hoary), the package I've replaced was different from NVIDIA driver. It might be some SDL-related component.
