hello i am new here
i have been using ubuntu for six months now
i just purchased a new laser printer
i am just wondering when the author of ubuntu will get rid of the fractured ( foomatic foo2zjs drivers )
and start using the ( foomatic foo2qpdl multilateral printer drivers )
i have read up a-lot about the crappy zjs drivers especially for colour printer support

it looks like i will have borrow a friends windows os. cd just to print off colour pictures
( or am i asking too much ):(:(:(:(:(:(

thank-you

There is no single author of Ubuntu.

Have a look here (http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi) to see if your printer is supported and what drivers it needs if it is supported.

i have already tried that route
permissions denied in terminal
i already have that driver installed in mint ( installation default )
i am just wondering when they intend to remove that crappy driver and update to the newer stable driver
and far more useful especially in regards to colour printers
