ubuntoooooo

I've been trying to fix my USB audio to work in Ubuntu Jaunty with Wine for awhile now. I've been using windows for a week or so now on a dualboot. When I came into Ubuntu today though, my sound in wine was working with TF2 and I closed it then reopened and the sound was broken again.
I've been using PlayOnLinux to run Wine apps. Normally to fix sound on a fresh Ubuntu install I just ditch pulse audio and that seems to work for me, although this time there was no desired effect coming from that action.
In fact as it was, pulse audio was installed while the sound worked earlier this afternoon.
The 'soundcard' in question is a builtin USB headset, Razer Megalodon. I also have onboard sound which can be used for speakers, I can't quite get it to work either. (I turn it off in bios unless I have the headset unplugged)
I can't figure it out why it would only work at random.
