You can't do this in *******. What is preventing you getting on the internet with Ubu?

Open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and run
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

You missed the part about "Ubuntu can't to connect to the internet" ;)

Download all the packages from this page (This is ubuntu-restricted-extras):

http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/ubuntu-restricted-extras

They should all be .deb files that you can simply install.

Though I'd work on getting internet to work! Pretty damned useful nowadays!
