Hey,

I installed UT2004, I applied the patch, installed libstdc++5.3.3-dev, and the game works perfectly (sound included). Or at least, that is what I thought.

I am playing the game, everything works great, we are about doing well on ONS-Torlan, then out of nowhere, my screen goes black (and my monitor goes into the "There is no input" mode, a sound repeats over and over again, like it's jammed, and I have to reboot my computer. Afterwards, KDE won't show up, so I need to go into another session and do "sudo etc/init.d/kdm stop" and then "sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start."

Does anyone have any idea as to what's wrong/how to fix the problem?

What is libstdc++5.3.3-dev for? I installed the game using the included linux script and then used the loki installer to get the patch and various mods. Havn't had a problem. http://liflg.org/?catid=6&gameid=17

I just used the installer on the ut2k4 disc, patched (without Loki, just put the files in their proper place), and installed UnWheel. No troubles here either. Instead of booting into Gnome, or KDE, boot into a terminal, then try launching ut2k4. I what haveing diffrent problems with ut crashing, sofar this seems to be working for me. I also added a gig of ddr.....That might have solved my problem.....Try it in a safe term boot.

Oh yeah, what fx card are you useing? From what you said, it might be over heating. Also try leaving your Linux box open so it has good air flow.
