what are the directories like in windows I know there is C: for hard drive, but I can't seem to get anything to work. I want the directories for floppy and cd/dvd for server edition the 32-bit.

well, better check any beginners guide to linux

e.g.

http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com/index_main.html

the HDs / partitions (aching to c: ) are something along the lines of
sda1, sdb3

where "a" stands for first HD, "b" for second, 1...3 are the partitions.

however your "filesystem" is organised in a different way.

you are normally in /home/"username"
any other partitions and such are under /media/
also if you go to "Places" menu you can see any other media and HardDrives.

was that of any help?

Thanks I'll try to use that, I am trying to atm, get sbm on a floppy off an installation disk so I can experiment with desktop edition (eventually after getting smart boot manager on there), so I can learn more about how to use this os since my cousins and me have had windows for just about forever, I know a few commands and finnally started on the text editor VIM on my server.

~~that's really going to help me though, Thocrun
