oh god, i typed <Super>+R and Gnome zoomed in on my active window.

how do i get out of this mode?

try <SUPER> + your mouse's scrollwheel.

Wow! That's the answer I need for almost 7 months now! I'd been dumbfounded by this problem. I'm an IT guy. I've searched Google for months. And this is the only answer that works!

Funny, it's just a simple SUPER + scroll wheel solves the problem

You gotta hate the SUPER + R...it's a sign of an old Windows habit since I used to be a Windows user :-)
