Hi all,
I've tried to read and understand the posts for gaming and the video cards but I'm lost. I downloaded Slune and tried to play it but the game is very slow and choppy. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro which worked fine in Windows, for instance, I played Halo on it very nicely. Any one care to draw out in crayon what I might be able to do?

If you haven't got the latest ati drivers, then you need them.
Go here:

For help. (thanks Gerbman  )

Wait a sec here, are those commands complete in themselves or is there a place where I need to input some info. Sorry but I'm new at the command line.

The first thing you need to do is be sure that your card is supported by the drivers. The drivers are owned by ati, so I would go to their site & search out the info'.
Otherwise you could find yourself in trouble & waste your time.
& yes those commands are complete in themselves...

When I typed in the first command, it told me that that particular driver wasn't installed so it wasn't removed. Huh?

Not all ati cards are supported by these drivers. So please check at the ati web site before you attempt installation.
Could you post the results re: ati linux drivers support for your card here? We need to verify this.
Have a look at the online help:

Not so much just for this problem but to help you to start to familiarise with the linux way...
The console is very different to the windoze way, & very efficient once you get used to it!
The first month is the toughest with a new operating system, so hang in there, it will probably get harder before it gets easier, but you do have the best support at the right price... :KS
[EDIT:] Sorry about harping on about the drivers, but I have never received a confirmation from you. This technical stuff relies on all the details I'm afraid.
