Just got my mini 10 and it wants to update. I try and install 15 updates via the update manager and I get the following error.

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-22-lpia_2.6.24-22.45netbook9_lpia.deb: files list file for package `libxcb-shape0' is missing final newline

I have a mini 10, updated through whatever, and all is okay.

You might try using Synaptic under the System menu and see if that works correctly. After giving your password, click Reload and then after, click Mark All Upgrades, to see if that works when Update Manager doesn't.

See a thread called 'Newbie problem with a new dell mini 10v'. You can just skip to the end if you just want to see one solution. If you read the whole thread you'll see lots of people (everyone?) have this problem. Dell obviously are not going to fix it. After installing the current updates you will get a further set - it was 195 when I did it. Don't panic, this seems to be right. Somewhere there is an Update Manager setting to delete the files after doing the updates, this is well worth doing especially if to have a small SSD.
