ATI have recently upgraded their drivers, & have made quite a step in the right direction according to most of the ati users.

I don't know how old your card is or if it is supported. I do know that it is the first thing that I would check out in your situation!

All the best!

I second that, Handy. I am not sure if your card is supported, but here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=408111) is a how-to for the latest drivers. I don't think your card is listed, but you might give it a shot anyway. Either that or get a new card ;-), cause ET is absolutely worth it. V57!

Im sure your card will be listed most of the ATI cards are. If its not your card may also be coverd under the "ATI" or "radeon" module fom Xorg. you basicly have two options to get your card running. Use the Bad Closed source drivers ( just Kidding )
or use the Open source drivers from xorg. There are lots and lots of resources you can use (the wiki, google, Xorg man pages, and even other distro's help pages)
