1. Is it even possible?
2. Do you think it would help people who think the forums are too big/not organised to their liking?
3. Would it be worth the effort?
In a nutshell, it would be creating a way to access a small subset of forum sections by using a seperate url. Searches done from there would only yield results from those subsets.
For example,
server.ubuntuforums.org would oly show the server, security and installation sections. beginner.ubuntuforums.org would only show the absolute beginner section. Tech.ubuntuforums.org would only show tech-support.... etc....
Just an idea I had in the shower....

You were thinking of ubuntu in the shower....what ever buddy :) lol
Think it could work but then you would have to tell the noobs and would ruin the search ranking since that would always list the general site.
Dont think it would work im afraid the site is too developed to implement this now

As it is, you can exclude some forum sections from view. This would just be another implementation of that.
"noobs" is derogatory. A lot of people are turned away from the forums because they are so big. That's not a good thing.

I don't know either. That's why I'm asking.
It's not really a ghange, just a filter. You have to be quite skilled to sign up, figure out all the preferences, figure out what sections interest you and figure out that it would be more interesting to block some sections out. This would just be a premade bunch of templates that people can chose from.

Interesting idea.. It would be do-able to a certain extent I'm not sure how it would really improve a persons overall forum experience though. I would be more open to ideas to fix our current layout and spend time improving that.
If anyone has suggestions please post them.
