i am running ubuntu 9.04 (not ubuntustudio because i can't get ubuntu to stop laggin' when i try running it with the realtime kernel, so i have a desktop enviroment that looks like ubuntu studio but does not use the realtime kernel, hope that makes sense)
the soundcard i am using is soundblaster audigy DE (it's the old one, not the new soundblaster audigy).
i never had a problem with jack on ubuntu 8.10 however i was never able to use the realtime kernel either. 8.04 as worked best thus far as both the realtime kernel and jack worked perfectly. however i would prefer to stick with 9.04 as it works better with my modem. if anyone out there can make a suggestion as to how to fix this issue i'd be really grateful. thanx. btw i have tried disabling the realtime option in jack but this has had not effect jack still seems to be unable to start

It looks like your sound card will only work with 2 buffer periods, and you are trying to use 3. Try setting your buffer to 2 periods.

Moved these posts to their own thread as the issue was a different Jack problem than the original thread.
