I have a Meerkat that came in late July this year.

1 x Meerkat NetTop (ment1) = $376.00
Operating System Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) 32 Bit Linux
Processor Dual Core Atom 330 1.60 GHz FSB 533 MHz L2 1M with Hyper-Threading (8 Watt)
Memory 2 GB –1 x 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz
Hard Drive 160 GB SATA II 300 Mbps - 7200 RPM 8MB Buffer
Optical Drive CD-RW / DVD-RW
Wireless USB Wireless 802.11 b/g
LCD Monitor no monitor
Speakers no speakers
Keyboard and Mouse no keyboard and mouse
Portable Flash Drive no flash drive

I have been using it for some embedded systems development. I connect to my network (and the Internet) via the wireless, and use the wired for my development network. The Meerkat hosts DNS, NFS, and TFTP for the development network. The serial port is nice for connecting to an external modem. I also use the port for remote debugging.

As far as web browsers, streaming or playing media files, etc., it does as well as my 64-bit Serval (P3). I have not tried running VirtualBox or any other virtual machine (except java and mono) on it since it does not have as much processor support. I have read a post somewhere in here where an author was running a virtual machine and was satisfied.

I have not experienced any problems with it so far. I have read several reports of corrupted file systems with Jaunty, but have not had this issue.

The wireless adapter that came with it is a DLink WUA-1340 which works just fine. This is my first experience with one of these and it 'just works'. I must use manual configuration of my network for my use.

Greatly appreciate the reply. Still waiting for the arrival. This is only day 5 (business) since I orered. Holidays will do that, dang it!

Glad to here this thing will be really functional. Was just a "little" worried.

It will be mostly used for my own web development/multi-media/education projects.
