The predecessor to Nautilus was GMC. Anyone know where I can get it? I'm looking for a lightweight file manager and I think GMC is the ticket.
Here's a pic in case anyone forgot:

Gnu Midnight Commander's site says it was removed from the sources. Any ideas where to get it?

What about some of the older distros, like redhat 6 or 7 etc. If you have any old cds lying around from before it was axed you maybe able to find an rpm :)

Why would you bother with a resource hog that is the gnome midnight commander when yo have the REAL midnight commander? And it's still in the repositories too (sudo apt-get install mc)

I thinks that's what I going to have to do.

Yeah, I have that installed. And I also have Thunar and xffm (I actually prefer xffm over rox and thunar).

Found it: http://archive.debian.org/debian-archive/dists/Debian-2.1/main/binary-i386/utils/gmc_4.5.1-1.1.deb

Installed it and it is BLAZINGLY fast. I barely have time to move my mouse cursor before that puppy pops up (and I'm on a p3 850). Fonts blow but I only use it for quick copying files.
