View Full Version : [ubuntu] Problem - Video editing on a netbook

I record a lot of video while on bike tours and want to edit it while away. I have a netbook running Hardy Heron Ubuntu and have Kino and PiTiVi on it which I had hoped to use for basic (mainly cuts) editing AVI files. Unfortunately while both run on the machine the screen resolution is such that all the programs windows and drop down menus fall off the bottom of the screen and cannot be resized to allow the whole to be seen and used which makes their use impossible. Have tried modifying the screen resolution but it doesn't help.
Hence the question - is it possible to run these programs on a netbook and if not are there any other suggestions? I don't need much functionality just the ability to delete sections of AVI format video.

I posted this in the 'Hardware Laptops' forum too as not clear if the issue is essentially a netbook limitation.

Eventually PiTiVi could fit in 800x600, but it needs some changes (like the project settings dialog). If you have ideas of specific areas in which it could be improved in that regard, I'd suggest filing enhancement requests about them.

Tip/trick if you didn't know about this already: you can still drag windows with alt+click, so if a dialog is too big for the screen, you can still work around it a little.
