Hello,

I have installed Ubuntu on a PC box I had lying around and I'm happy to say I got a lot of things working. I'm a relative newbie to Linux although I professionally support Apple and Windows users. The command line scares me to death but I fired up a Terminal window, configured Samba and I'm connecting just fine from my iMac running OSX 1.5.8 and my wife's Vista machine. Just now I used remote desktop from the iMac to connect to the Ubuntu box and it worked great.

So now here's the thing. I want to use the Ubuntu box as a file server and backup machine. I have installed a second hard drive in the Ubuntu box, 500GB NTFS formatted. I can see it fine in my Ubuntu box, I can write to it, I created a folder and shared it. Trouble is I can't see it from the Mac or the Windows machine. I also want to add another 500GB drive that served as a file archive when the Ubuntu box was a Windows machine. I also made Super Duper backups (smart images) to it as well. I don't want to lose any data on that drive and I want to write to the other drive as as well. Why can't I see it?

Thanks,

Luciano
