how do i get a bar at the bottom of my screen like the ones in the linux mint, roy and the hardy theme 2?

Try Gnome-Do, and set it's apearance as dock.

downloaded gnome-do via synaptic and it's working fine now.

edit: forgot to ask how do you customise the dock. i wold like to swap the k3b for brasero and to remove tali and put on nexuiz
