View Full Version : [ubuntu] No soundscard...

Hi guys, problems again - this time caused by no one else then myself. I tried to get my microphone to work properly in skype and found a tut orial in how to do so. One of the tips was to reinstall the alsa mixer which i did.
So now my soundcard isn't available anymore??

anders@anders-laptop:~$ aplay -l
aplay: device_list:217: no soundcards found...

Can someone plz help me again... :-)

Can someone plz help me again... :-)Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

With Hardy (8.04), go to System > Preferences > Sound and make sure that everything in the Device tab is set to Alsa.

Then, you Right click on your Volume control (the little speaker, usually in the upper right corner of your desktop) and choose "Open Volume Control". From there you have to enable the correct volume levels (like Mic) and set them accordingly. Also, make sure what you want to use is not muted.

I am using 9.04 32bit version on my sony vaio w seriwes netbook. I think I may have lost just the alsa driver, i found the sound card by running command:

Actually managed to get it sorted via http://webupd8.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-upgrade-to-alsa-1020-on-ubuntu.html.

Fantastic easy to use manual for reinstalling the ALSA drivers.
