I was having a look in the section 'How To Help Ubuntu Studio' and I guess the description 'Novice User' best fits in my case. I got to thinking how could I help? So I took a look through some of the documentation that's available on the community pages and realised that I probably could add some bits and pieces. I also felt that some parts could be better written to suit someone new to music making on computers and Ubuntu Studio.
Great! The documentation really could use some love.
So, it's okay just to log in and edit these pages? For the sake of making sure I don't screw up (not unknown :)), who reviews/edits the changes that I or someone else might make?
Yes. That's the editing format of a wiki. If you screw something up, others can revert your changes or fix them however they wish. Just be sure to use the 'preview' button at the top until you're familiar with the wiki's syntax.
It also occurred to me that there isn't a specific thread or place where we can post up links to examples of things that we've done using Ubuntu Studio. The forum can seem a bit negative at times because people (including me ) mostly post questions about problems they're having, rather than about successes they've had. Perhaps a thread for this might help redress the balance and give people a chance to discuss things positively?
These threads have existed on these forums in the past, but usually get burried. The official forum policy is that the main section of the forums is for technical support questions, and that other topics should be posted to Community Cafe or a similar place, but I do think these threads are useful. I recall one mentioned that a website should be created that features Linux Musicians (possibly with a community/social aspect to it where people can discuss how they created the tracks, etc..) but I haven't heard anything since.
